Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs - The Basics

  • In our first session, we'll discuss your unique needs, goals, and concerns. We will work together to create a plan tailored to you. My approach is collaborative and focused on making sure you feel heard, supported, and comfortable throughout the process. You can expect a mix of active listening, empathy, directness, and practical tools aimed at helping you make meaningful changes.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes. This is typically the amount of time that allows for meaningful progress while also being a manageable commitment for most people’s schedules.

  • Yes! We offer online therapy via secure video conferencing for both individual and couples therapy. If you prefer the flexibility of telehealth, we are happy to accommodate you if you are still located in Illinois.

  • At Whole Three Wellness, my therapy services are rooted in a warm, welcoming approach. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration. From there, we work together to determine which approaches, modalities, and skills will best meet your needs.

    • Relational Therapy

A form of psychotherapy that focuses on the relationships between individuals and their patterns of interaction with others, including family, friends, and romantic partners. It emphasizes the therapist-client relationship as a key tool for healing, exploring how past experiences and relational dynamics influence current behavior and emotions. The goal is to improve self-awareness, communication, and emotional connections, helping individuals build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

    • Psychodynamic Therapy
Focuses on understanding the unconscious processes and past experiences that influence current behavior and emotions. This approach can help you gain insight into relationship patterns and self-awareness.

    • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
A practical, mindfulness-based approach that helps individuals accept uncomfortable feelings while focusing on living a meaningful life in alignment with personal values.

    • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
A goal-oriented approach that helps identify negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier, more constructive beliefs. CBT is highly effective for managing anxiety, depression, and stress.

    • IFS (Internal Family Systems)
Focuses on understanding and integrating the different parts of your personality. By exploring the inner "parts" that may be in conflict, IFS helps you achieve greater emotional balance and healing.

  • Therapy is a process that takes time, effort, and collaboration. You can expect to feel heard, respected, and supported. Therapy may challenge you to think and act differently, and as you progress, you’ll likely experience changes in how you think, feel, and relate to others.

  • All therapy sessions are confidential. I follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure your personal information is protected. I only share information with others if you give explicit consent, or if required by law (e.g., in cases of harm to self or others).

Insurance and payment

  • I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Choice plans. If you have one of these, therapy may be covered in part or fully. We will help you verify your benefits, but I encourage you to check with your insurance as well to ensure accurate coverage details.

  • No worries! If you have out-of-network insurance, you are responsible for paying at the time of service. Afterward, I will provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Please note, this is not a guarantee of reimbursement.

  • If insurance isn’t involved, here are the session rates:

    • Intake (First session): $165

    • Ongoing sessions: $150 per session

      • I accept all major credit cards, and payments are processed immediately after your session via our secure client portal.

  • The No Surprises Act requires healthcare providers to give you a Good Faith Estimate of your costs upfront. This applies if you’re self-paying or not using insurance. If your final bill exceeds the estimate by more than $400, you have the right to dispute it. The law is designed to protect you from unexpected charges.

Practical Information

  • You can easily book an initial consultation by filling out the contact form on my website or sending me an email. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if we are a good fit for each other.

  • The number of sessions required depends on your goals and the nature of the challenges you are facing. Some clients may find relief after just a few sessions, while others may need longer-term support. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust the frequency of sessions as needed.

  • It’s generally recommended to attend weekly sessions, especially early on in therapy, to build momentum. However, we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and schedule.

  • I ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. If less than 24 hours' notice is given, you will be charged the full rate (either self pay or BCBS’s reimbursement amount) for the missed session. We want to be respectful of your time and ours, and a timely notice helps us accommodate other clients.

  • I am happy to support you with your ongoing concerns, but I do not provide emergency services. If you are in immediate need of support or facing a crisis, please contact a local crisis hotline or visit an emergency room. I can provide you with resources and referrals if needed.
